Marcelo Fernández is a Uruguayan-born artist based in Toronto. The intuitive quality of his work in the use of colour, texture and composition, investigates space through the concept of solitude, anxiety and alienation. Having grown up under a dictatorship government in South America, his works are a reflection of his outlook on political, social and philosophical issues in our contemporary society. Predominantly an oil painter, he also experiments with drawing, art installations and digital work. Marcelo received his BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCAD University.
